Live Performance

Body Language

Coiscéim Dance Theatre | RHA Gallery
Photography: Ros Kavanagh

Body Language evolved over three weeks and was a large-scale multimedia exploration of non-verbal communication. Each day saw a spontaneous performance created in real-time from live interviews, photography, video projection, music and choreography. The music score was created for an eight-channel surround sound rig and also included a daily rotation of live performers such as choir, bass clarinet and guitar.

Ultima Thule

Photography: Luca Truffarelli

Set to an intense electronic score with live percussion and voice, this highly physical piece was inspired by Carl Jung’s The Red Book and the ‘confrontation with the unconscious’ he experienced while writing it.

Woman Stood Regardless

Pounding and relentless percussion was at the centre of this piece in which four female dancers explore direct testimonies from women who’ve suffered from domestic violence.  The performance switched back and forth between loud, fast and uncontrolled movement to an almost deafening and uncomfortable silence.
