Michael Fleming is a versatile composer and multi-instrumentalist who writes orchestral and electronic music for film, television, theatre and dance. He has had his music showcased at film festivals around the world, provided soundtracks and concert music for RTE, TV3, TG4, Lyric FM, and Al Jazeera, and also collaborated on many projects with various independent artists.
A graduate of the Masters in Music and Media Technologies from Trinity College, he studied instrumental and electronic composition with Donnacha Dennehy and Roger Doyle. He has also completed a Certificate in Film Scoring from UCLA in association with Screen Training, Ireland, during which time he studied primarily with the late Don Ray (UCLA), Bob Drasnin (UCLA) and Hollywood orchestrator, Conrad Pope.
He has recorded with both the National Symphony and the National Concert Orchestra, the Dublin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Dublin Guitar Quartet and various other ensembles. In 2006 he was also selected as composer in residence for the Moonstone International Filmmakers’ Lab in association with the Sundance Film Institute.
Along with his composition work, Michael is Music Development Coordinator with South Dublin County Council, is a founder member of Spatial Music Collective, and, from 2006 -2009, he also played guitar, banjo and bouzouki with Dublin-based rock band, The Jimmy Cake.
